10 Worst Video Games Of 2023 (So Far)

9. Wanted: Dead

In Wanted: Dead, hardened Hong Kong officer, Lt. Hannah Stone, must lead her police squad against a zombie invasion. As generic as this hybrid hack-and-slash/shooter sounds, it's nothing like how it seems (but not in a good way).

Wanted: Dead contains anime scenes, noodle-munching contests, 2D bullet-hell sequences, Claw Machine mini-games, karaoke tournaments, and a ton of meme references. Even though it's commendable how this cyberpunk title tries to bring so much variety to gameplay, it ultimately falls flat.

Although some games like Horace, What Remains of Edith Finch, and Yakuza successfully blend numerous genres, that's not the case here. Many of the mini-games are hampered by poor controls and dated humour. When the jokes are funny, they still jar with the serious tone of the overarching narrative. Half of the time, the Family Guy-like cutaways have no baring on the plot, and were inserted for the sake of being wacky.

Speaking of the plot, the key players don't seem bothered there's an undead uprising taking place. Because our so-called heroes don't give a toss about what's happening, players will struggle to stay invested.
