10 Worst Video Games Of The Last Decade
8. Duke Nukem Forever
With the recent outrage at outdated shows in the UK, such as Fawlty Towers and Love Thy Neighbour, it really was surprising to see the likes of Duke Nukem not dragged by its buzzcut to the chopping block.
Whilst the original Duke Nukem series of the 90s was praised for its imaginative, tongue-in-cheek world of action and guts. By the time the fourth game rolled out in 2011 after years of development hell, even tongue-in-cheek humour would have been cutting it close. Usually when a game is stuck in development hell, there is a clear reason why. When Forever was released, what wasn't clear was why it was released at all.
Forever seemed to take the subtle, more ironic controversial humour and p**s it into a urinal, which by the way was a doable mechanic within the game, as every gamer dreams of doing. 2011 Duke was simply a misogynistic asshat that you couldn't stand to be around.
Even if you excuse the character as a 90s throwback, there's no excusing the gameplay. The levels were drab, linear and lacking the flavour and charm of the originals, whilst the action was nothing this generation of gamers hadn't seen scores of times prior.
Duke was nuked and this game takes a sleazy seat on this list.
