10 Wrestlers Who Didn’t Deserve To Be On The Cover Of A Wrestling Game
2. Roman Reigns – 2K20
Roman Reigns was overdue to front the annual WWE game release. However, 2K20 wasn’t the year. Not because Reigns had a bad year in 2019 (when 2K20 was released): he returned from illness, had an electrifying tag match with The Undertaker at Extreme Rules and briefly reunited The Shield for the final time.
It’s just 2019 was very much Becky Lynch’s year. She did more for women in her run as Champ than anyone previously. She’s the first WWE Superstar to grace the cover of ESPN Magazine, main evented more pay per views in one year than any woman before and is a trailblazer for women wrestlers everywhere. Becky even commented about her monumental year whilst promoting the game:
“Jesus, what a 12-month run. In wrestling, it’s hard to remember if a man has ever had 12 months this good, let alone a woman. It’s been a lot of opportunity, a lot of breaking ground – I’ve dreamt about it and worked my arse off for it.”
Whilst both Becky and Roman shared the cover, Becky should have been solo. It was fantastic that a woman was fronting a WWE game for the first time, just a shame she had to split the honour with Reigns, who isn’t short on accolades.
