Who would you pick as the mascot for a Brain Training-style on-the-go grilling on all things Japanese politics? Obviously, hardcore wrestling legend and innovator of the 'deathmatch' concept Atsushi Onita.

It's not as unusual as it sounds. After years bloodying and bruising a variety of opponents with a variety of weapons, the FMW founder decided to go on a violence-free diet as he aimed for a seat in the Japanese government of the same name. In 2001, he followed in the footsteps of fellow wrestlers Antonio Inoki and Hiroshi Hase when he was elected under the Liberal Democratic Party's banner. It's difficult to think of a more dramatic career pivot short of Pontius Pilate becoming a priest.

Onita's political career ended in a suitably ridiculous scandal, when it was unearthed he'd used a governmental building to host a threesome. Nevertheless, that didn't damage his integrity enough to stop him being the face of this DS political wonk dream.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
