11 Addictive Video Games You Had To Stop Yourself Playing
10. Tekken
Something that's integral to the very idea of this whole 'flow' thing is that an entertainment property should be able to maintain a sense of engagement, which in Tekken's case comes from the perfected fighting mechanics and the brightly-coloured effects and animations that shoot off in all directions whenever you land special moves and combos. It's a feeling that Namco managed to almost perfect right back in 1994 and they've been refining it ever since. As we look forward to the next instalment coming in 2015, part six is still eminently replayable thanks to some of the finest animation the series has seen to date, along with one of the most varied and robust rosters there's been in any fighting game. The 'feel' of anything in the genre is that which separates those who worship something like Virtua Fighter from another more accessible Dead or Alive or Mortal Kombat. Tekken's combos always land with weight and purpose, and that essential feeling of 'just one more go' elevates everything into pure outdoor-avoidance territory.
