After releasing the underrated Arkham Origins and teasing their next project with that game's ending, developers at WB Montreal moved onto creating a new Suicide Squad spin-off.

Envisioned as a co-op brawler after the other Batman studio, Rocksteady, had established a baseline for multiple playable characters, the game was supposed to hit shelves in time for the film in 2016.

In development for at least two years though, the title was internally canned after the devs were unable to impress the bosses at WB, who no doubt already had cold feet after public opinion on the band of anti-heroes tanked after the DC movie hit cinemas.

Consequently, the team has moved back to focus on the more bankable Batman, allegedly producing another Arkham game with Damien Wayne's version of the iconic character at the helm.

There's still space for the studio to do something interesting with this set up, but it's still a shame that players won't be getting an entirely new experience set in the DC Universe anytime soon.
