11 Powerful Video Game Opening Sequences That Gave You Chills
9. Hiding The Body - Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy
Auteur David Cage made a mark so perfectly with the opening sequence of Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy (UK/US title), it allowed him to go off the deep end with the second half of its story, alongside every game he's ever released that isn't Heavy Rain.
And why? Because it posited a macabre yet engaging question: You wake up in a diner toilet and find a dead body right in front of you... your hands clasped around the knife that killed them - what do you do?
All options were open, but time is ticking down. Do you try and clean yourself up to make a getaway? Perhaps hide the body? What about journeying back out into the public eye and reporting it to someone? A random police officer will show up as part of keeping tension sky-high, and even they have interactable elements that can change the outcome of the scene.
Whatever you do, all manner of cutscenes and scenarios present themselves, but for that moment where you first go with a decision and realise what it says about how you may handle yourself in real life, that's what will stick with you.
Oh, and in case you were wondering... I hid the body and ran.
