11 Reasons Call Of Duty Advanced Warfare Has Saved The Series

6. Melee Is Fixed

Love it or hate it, the one-shot melee strikes of Call of Duty are a divisive feature. Rewarding players that are able to sneakily get up close to their enemies, the knifing enables them to instantly kill foes with the press of a button. The main issue that many had with this was that players would often build their loadouts purely around knifing, making it common to see an enemy sprinting around at superhuman speeds before seeming to teleport ten metres in an instant kill lunge. Advanced Warfare still features a melee attack that kills instantly (this time a punch with the Exo Suit), but the lock-on and jumping forwards functionality has been totally removed. This time, you'll need to be aiming directly at an enemy while basically touching them if you want the sweet satisfaction of an instant melee kill.
