Normally, nothing with Halo in the name would even come close to being 'underrated' or overlooked, but 343 Industries royally botched the Master Chief Collection to such a crippling degree in November 2014, it would take multiple months and a TON of community feedback, fixes and patches to get it stable again. And that's a crying shame, because in the words of GiantBomb's Jeff Gerstmann, "You're Microsoft, this is Halo. Get it done." - which as of time of writing, they mostly have. The MCC comes with the already-fantastic Anniversary Edition of original Halo: Combat Evolved (featuring the awesome one-button switch between the 2001 graphics and the remaster), Halo 2, 3 and 4. 343 even put out ODST with a shinier look for free as an apology earlier in 2015 too, but it's the all-new cutscenes and phenomenal graphical upgrade applied across Halo 2 that really makes it worth checking out. This rejuvenated sensibility has breathed what feels like a timeless life into the older games too, letting you play the multiplayer maps on new servers that - when working - provide the ultimate Halo experience. With Halo 5 out (and its campaign being quite the talking point), the vastly-reduced MCC gives you the best way to experience the original games, alongside a mode to compile multiplayer maps from all four titles into one gigantic playlist.
