11 Severely Underrated Xbox One Games You Must Play
2. Ryse: Son Of Rome
Speaking of how people can get in that mindset where they just want to hate on things, Ryse took the brunt of Microsoft's Xbox One reveal once we realised it was a converted Kinect demo turned into a God of War-style hack n' slasher. Thing is though, not all games need to be big narrative-heavy expectation-toppers - there's every room (especially now, when you can pick this up for almost nothing and have a great blast across an afternoon) for titles like Ryse that give you a simple toolset of moves, and let you indulge in hacking the limbs off everything in sight. The story isn't anything special (but the graphics and cutscene animation definitely is), and you'll spend the majority of your time matching coloured button prompts to fell enemies in the most stylish way possible, but at the end of the day that's all Son of Rome set out to do. For Xbox owners who've never played a God of War, missed Devil May Cry's heyday and perhaps thought Conan's 2007 outing had promise, Ryse is just a fun, carefree, blood-soaked experience I guarantee you'll have a blast with.
