8. Serial Killer X (Condemned: Criminal Origins)

One of the many franchises that started out so well only to introduce an element of science fiction and completely goes off the rails at the end (Were looking at you, Beyond: Two Souls!). Forgoing the crazy pre-Fus-Ro-Dahing of Condemned 2s shouting abilities, the first instalment was a much more grounded affair, allowing the player to explore many derelict buildings and underground subway trains on the hunt for Leland Vanhorn a.k.a Serial Killer X. Painful moans, groans, expletives and a showering of distant footsteps skittering in the dark permeated these abandoned locales, creating the perfect tension-soaked atmosphere for the occasional confrontation. Pulling a concrete-ended rebar bent from the ground and holding on for dear life alongside your depleted pistol ammunition was a fantastic launch-day experience for the 360, and one thats still worth re-visiting today.
