4. The Whole DRM Mess
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWSIFh8ICaA The 'all-digital future' is something that still divides everyone into two very specific camps: Those who love the idea of being able to access an always-available 'cloud' of content from anywhere in the world, instantly streaming everything in glorious HD to everything from phones to any nearby screen, and the rest who actually want to have something to show for their money. One of the biggest hurdles on the way to achieving a state where all forms of media are bought and traded digitally is establishing a DRM system, or Digital Rights Management. As many already know, when it comes to Microsoft's view on DRM they royally ballsed it up, attempting to get across the idea that after you purchase a game you could only trade to specific stores or friends. The backlash from this implementation was so strong that eventually Microsoft had to backpedal yet again, renouncing their initial claims that this DRM strategy was integral to the system, freeing it up so people can trade as they have done for years. The most in-your-face snipe from the Sony side though? The above video, where heads Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes managed to troll the entire thing more masterfully than the Lord of the Rings animation studio.
