7. The Last Guardian Continues To Be A Game Out Of Time

With Xbox One-exclusive ReCore releasing and feeling like a B-tier PS2 game (in the best way possible), there could be something of a 'middle ground' emerging in gaming all over again. The Last Guardian is such a title; in development for a literal decade and resurrected by Sony at E3 2015 as some "for the fans!" statement of intent, since then it's... not looked so great.

At least, not by 2016's standards. Now we can see even more of the final product (which has been delayed again to December 6th), everything looks to be continuing where Shadow of the Colossus left off - way back in 2005.

Physics-based platforming, an elegant art style and a story that'll most likely leave all conclusions open to interpretation, the big hook is looking after a bird-cat hybrid named Trico, who according to those who have played, has some of the most realistic 'animal A.I.' seen in a video game.

Gameplay-wise, that translates into trying and failing to get his attention (just like a real cat!), as well as attempting to get Trico to help you through levels by positioning him in specific spots, occasionally ending in frustration. The Last Guardian has always been ambitious, and Fumito Ueda's team have dedicated a ludicrous amount of time to its production, so there has to be something in there Sony want to promote.

Keep your fingers crossed.
