Super Mario 64 may never receive a "true" sequel but when Nintendo are still producing quality 3D platformers like Sunshine and Galaxy, you'll find few who will complain. Galaxy in particular has proved to be a massive success for Nintendo's plumber with both games in the series receiving universal acclaim and huge sales numbers. Reclaiming those huge sales numbers is vital to Nintendo right now too, with the Wii U's lukewarm reception creating (largely overblown) panic about Nintendo's future; Super Mario Galaxy 3 is exactly the sort of title that Nintendo needs to pull out in this time of need. It could also prove to be a big farewell to one of gaming's most important figures Shigeru Miyamoto; he has apparently been considering retirement for some time now - how apt would it be for him to sign off with his most famous hero? E3 is going to be big for Nintendo this year as they seek to win back faith €“ unveiling the latest Mario Galaxy game would be a huge opportunity for them to do so.
