Days Gone, the upcoming release from long-dormant studio Sony Bend, has struggled to gain the traction that other first-party Sony games have enjoyed ever since its grand reveal in 2016. The open-world zombie shooter looks a little too similar to not only other post-apocalyptic games from the past few years, but even titles in the Playstation stable like The Last of Us.

That doesn't mean the footage released so far looks bad though, and the game may actually benefit from these tempered expectations. The idea of a biker gang surviving in a zombie-infested future is interesting, and this Sons-of-Anarchy-by-way-of-The Walking-Dead approach may be enough to set it apart from the titles it will inevitably be compared to.

Likewise, Days Gone isn't really like those other games anyway. Few open world titles outside of Dead Rising have a zombie spin to them, and Sony Bend's focus on filling the screen with hundreds of fast-moving monsters and treating them almost like a part of the environment to manipulated could make for a pretty neat gameplay loop.
