11 Video Games With Severely Underused Secondary Characters

6. The Random Assassins - Hitman: Blood Money

Blood Money is possibly the best game of this veteran franchise. Both modern and true to its roots, it served as a perfect transfer of the series to a new age. The story is simply brilliant, with a mind-boggling twist at the very end (hint: keep pressing "W" during the end credits) that left me amazed for days after figuring it out. The thing that bugged me, however, is that some of the potentially important secondary characters weren't even introduced to me for the duration of the game. It seemed as if I had to fill in the details between the missions on my own (in a bad way), and sometimes things that happened as I played weren't clear enough. I'm talking about the assassins that try to take 47 out during the game. Some of them are psychopatic dominatrixes, some are stealthy snipers, and some I've barely even encountered. No, I'm not kidding. See, it's because the game is barely scripted, aside from the basic NPC behaviour. It's nothing weird to unknowingly avoid these hitmen completely, only to find out later that you could have taken them out, too. I see missed opportunities here. It's obvious that they are all lively and interesting, but the developer didn't want to focus on them for some reason. Come on, now. We could have had some slick assassin showdowns in the game.
