11 Video Games That'll Hit You Right In The Childhood

1. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow

Remember when we said there was one other game except the No Mercy's and Smackdown's of this world that allowed you to watch along with a show and mimic it in-game? Enter all three initial Pokemon colours - each one an absolutely perfect combination of loveable characters, animation, art design and gameplay mechanics. Still today you can get your hands on these little gems at many retro traders or through online emulation, and they hold up just as well. Sure many of us have grown out of watching Ash Ketchum and the gang deal with the likes of a temperamental Charizard or a spectacularly-annoying (in retrospect) Team Rocket, the games still ooze charm out of every pore. In a genius move by the marketing team both Pokemon's Red and Blue were available at the same time, forcing you to choose a side and trade with your friends if you were ever going to collect the full 150. And that's not even mentioning the Nintendo roadshow that travelled far and wide across the lands, offering exclusive link cable-downloads of Mew to those who had turned up. The Pokemon games are still going very strong indeed, with sequels X and Y becoming synonymous with an entire new generation of handheld-lovers. But for the rest of us, our childhood can be summed up quite perfectly with any of three original titles in the series. Which games make you go all fuzzy inside when you start reading about them again? Let us know in the comments!
