11 Weird Video Game Crossovers You Won’t Believe Happened
8. Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne Maniax – Dante
Shin Megami Tensei might’ve been overshadowed by its own spinoff series Persona in recent years, but it still remains Atlus’ flagship series. First launched back in 1987 with Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei, its main entries last saw release on the 3DS and fans are now patiently awaiting the fifth entry on Switch.
Back in 2003 though, SMT saw its third main entry release on PS2 with SMT: Nocturne. Playing a nameless protagonist, he finds himself turned into a half-demon known as the Demi-Fiend, occurring amidst an apocalypse known as the Conception, all of which was triggered by a sinister cult.
It launched to critical acclaim and one year later, it received a directors cut, Maniax. Restoring cut content, it featured a surprise guest appearance from Devil May Cry’s Dante, finding himself tasked with hunting down demons and unsurprisingly, you’re on his list.
Rather than just a cameo, Dante takes on a more significant role within Maniax’s story, becoming a permanent addition to the Demi-Fiend’s party, something he takes great amusement in.
