2. Final Colossus (Malus) - Shadow Of The Colossus
If an iconic tool used in the creation of boss battles is to make them really big well, they dont get much bigger than this. Shadow Of The Colossus was a hugely successful game on PS2, especially in retrospect. The aim of the game was simple, kill 16 Colossi to bring a fair damsel back to life. The player takes control of Wander, a young man with little in the way of weapons but a fire in his heart. The battle with the final colossus is by no means the hardest, but it is the sheer size of this monster that blows you away. After scaling this mountain of a boss, using swords, bows and cunning to defeat him, completing this battle truly makes the player feel like a giant-killing god - which is always a good feeling.
