10. The Xenomorph - Alien: Isolation

Despite the bone-chilling level of horror that we once got from the Alien franchise, for whatever reason no video game ever managed to truly capture the level of terror that every fan would agree is key to the franchise.

There were a number of Alien titles that, I'm willing to bet, we weren't present for. However the one that sticks out in all of our heads, of course, is Alien: Colonial Marines. Jesus. A Call of Duty clone that was re-skinned with a few alien babas to pick off and blah blah blah. We lost hope of ever seeing the Xenomorph in all its horrifying glory.

Then Alien: Isolation came along.

Isolation embraced everything that made the original film so goddamn scary. The old-school technology, the breathless terror, the overwhelming claustrophobia... and, of course, the creeping terror of the alien that never seemed to leave your side.

And the first time it caught you, well, if you're anything like me... you might have needed to take a break to have a little cry.
