9. Dante - Devil May Cry V

Spyro the dragon
Capcom

Alright, let's get this out of the goddamn way before we continue with this entry. DmC: Devil May Cry was not a bad game. The combat was solid and felt great, the boss fights were killer, the whole soundtrack was banger after banger and its art style was stunning. But new Dante? Yeah...yuck.

And it's such a shame too that the unfortunate revamp of the classic character meant that a lot of people were turned off of an otherwise brilliant bit of fun. It didn't sell particularly well, as of 2018 it had sold 2.1 million which was just over what Capcom projected it would sell in a few months.

DmC Dante was cringey on a horrendous level. Ninja Theory tried to create a character seemingly by looking up the term 'edgy' on Wikipedia. As a result we all got distracted by edgelord Dante and ignored the great game he happened to be a part of.

Luckily, that vodka swilling, dick-joke spouting Dante wasn't long for this world, and Capcom decided to revert back to a version of Dante that we all knew and loved. DMC 5 Dante was effortlessly cool and, most importantly, silver-haired once again.

Although it should be noted that Capcom did insist that this wasn't a slight against Ninja Theory's interpretation of the character.

Yeah, sure.
