You control a tortured, ostracised blue being called the Nameless One, who travels among countless surreal planes of existence in his quest to discover why he keeps being reborn with no memory of who he is when he dies. Haunted by the ghosts of the people who are sacrificed to fuel his resurrections, the Nameless One is an appropriately tormented character who wants to die in peace, and escape the twisted, purgatory-like universe that echoes his eternal plight.
