Rayman Legends is easily the best platformer I played this year, both challenging and extremely fun to play all at the same time. That balance is tipped a little, though, thanks to the bonus 8-Bit levels, which take the much lauded music levels throughout the game and put them through an "8-bit" filter to make them more difficult. This means that while trying to keep time with the music and navigate the level, you'll also have static, distortion, pixellation and so on obscuring your view of the screen, so a lot of your success will really rely on instinct more than anything else. I think it's fair to say that the static-laced Orchestral Chaos is the most infuriating, controller-throwingly challenging of the lot, though Grannies World Tour, which combines all of the effects from all of the levels into one scarcely comprehensible mess, isn't far behind. The fact that Orchestral Chaos actually left my eyes hurting from all the static makes it the winner.
