Last years Injustice: Gods Among Us - created by NetherRealm Studios which had brought us the recent iteration of Mortal Kombat - was one of the most enjoyable beat em ups in recent memory. With some 30 of the coolest DC characters to play as, Injustice gives each hero or villain a unique set of moves in-keeping with their comic book character as well as a devastating super move. Not only do they look amazing, but these super moves can bring you back from the brink of defeat to rescue the round. You cant help but drop your jaw the first time you use Aquaman to bring down the might of the ocean on your opponents head. The bouts are fought in gorgeous stages relevant to the DC universe, such as the Batcave, Watchtower and Fortress of Solitude. Each stage has additional areas to be explored and features an array of interactive objects to inflict additional damage on your foes. In addition to these satisfying visual and gameplay flourishes, Injustice has an intricate and interesting story, much like NetherRealms previous title Mortal Kombat 9, which distinguishes it from the tepid narratives of others in the genre. A great title in the otherwise scant offering of contemporary beat em ups, it is certainly deserving of its place here.
