10. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes And Punishments

Something L.A. Noire royally ballsed up was the idea of interrogating your suspects; one minute you were Mr. Cool, being calm and collected as you thumbed through your notebook and decided if Ticket Stub B would conflict Witness Statement D. Then character Cole Phelps bellowed everything into your suspect's face and ruined the tension before recomposing himself within seconds - it was all a bit all over the place. If you yearned for a detective game that put you in the shoes of a capable sleuth whilst allowing you to visually analyse your perps before delivering a verdict that was only one of a selection of endings, Frogwares latest is exactly the title you need. Having been doing Sherlock titles for years, it feels the tech behind consoles has finally caught up to the developer's ideas, letting you piece together clues in Holmes' mind alongside doing the BBC-style thing of looking someone over only for a string of labels to pop up denoting everything from their place of work to what they had to eat the previous week. It's fantastic stuff, and even more enthralling if you're a fan of Sherlock in the first place. Quite why this hasn't received more much-needed attention is a case for London's finest in itself.
