12 Hilariously Awesome Glitches Ever Engineered By Bethesda

8. Fallout 3 - Paladin Hoss, The Ultimate Infiltrator

Finally getting to the first true example from the Fallout series we have one very particular NPC famous for being bugged beyond belief. Encountered during a quest titled The Lost Initiate, should the player opt to keep him alive they will soon find themselves perpetually plagued by Paladin Hoss. Spawning in at the most abrupt moments, the Fallout community has found Hoss continually invading houses or suddenly appearing in new environments long after his quest was complete. Some of the more infamous ones among these were suddenly showing up in far outside of the Capital Wasteland, fighting mutant hillbillies in Point Lookout, and even showing up orbit once Mothership Zeta was installed. While quite often reduced to a fine paste thanks to the extremely high level enemies present in such locations, Hoss has the aggravating tenancy to grab the nearest firearm better than his laser rifle. This is not usually a problem in most places beyond losing the odd bit of loot, but becomes a very big one once he shows up inside the player's house. Many in the Fallout community have reported going to sleep only to have Hoss suddenly materialise, raid their storage locker and disappear out the door with some vitally unique item. Everything from Firelances to the MIRV tactical nuclear catapult have been reported looted by him; often with all of their ammunition. While stealing them back is viable if the player catches up with the Paladin, gunning him down to get their well earned equipment back turns everyone in Megaton temporarily hostile against them. So on the one hand their loot will be back in the right hands, but the player's house will in inaccessible for several days. Things are even worse if Hoss gets outside the town gates, as he will be off and over the horizon in moments, often getting himself killed in the middle of nowhere. By that point the player can kiss their Fat Man goodbye. While undeniably irksome, some have found a degree of humour in this, claiming Hoss is just returning to the East Coast Brotherhood's old goals: taking any valuable tech away from wasteland primitives and putting it into safe keeping.
