12 Hilariously Awesome Glitches Ever Engineered By Bethesda
3. Skyrim - Lost For Want Of A Bucket
One of several glitches intentionally left in the game by Bethesda thanks to staff members finding them especially funny, the bucket method of looting entire houses without ever being detected has now become infamous across the internet. With a retooled method of having NPCs detect the player character, other objects and their sense of direction in the game, eyesight was a critical factor in having them realise what was going on around them. While certainly an interesting shift from how some of Bethesda's past games had handled detection, particularly players in the grips of kleptomania soon found that placing a bucket over the heads of an NPC would render them blind and deaf. With no way to remove them or really react to the object now completely obscuring their view of their surroundings, NPCs now had no way of telling that the Dragonborn was now rampaging through their house, stealing everything which wasn't nailed down. While sadly ineffective against dragons, giant spiders and ice wraiths, it has none the less been proven as a viable method to get around irritating town guards and pull off stealth kills in the middle of a crowded room. Just make sure that the buckets don't fall off the guards around whoever's throat you're wanting to slit at the time.
