1. Losing A Chase Due To Animation Glitches - Assassin's Creed
If you caught E3 back in 2007 you might remember
the footage of Assassin's Creed's Altair bolting through a city only to leap and crash down on his target as something that looked genuinely fun - and for a time, it was. At least, the idea of it was anyway. Sadly Ubisoft didn't know when to quit while they were ahead, and every AC has been positively littered with "hold forward 'til you win" chase missions where you're left to the mercy of an animation system that doesn't know which surface should take priority. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAIFjQN6we8 Instead it forever leaves characters darting up the wrong wall or surface instead of going over the one right in front of them, or flinging off in the opposite direction whenever anything takes to the rooftops. There aren't any checkpoints either, and when the basic mission design is more fun to watch than to play, it's a huge design problem that culminated in AC III having one of the worst final missions in history.
