12 Most Impactful Games Of The PS4, Xbox One And Nintendo Switch Era
5. God Of War - Back With A Bang
God Of War was a major success for Santa Monica Studios during both the PlayStation 2 and 3 era, but a few lacklustre spin-off games did not live up to the standards of the main game and many were thinking it was time for the franchise to end. That was until Cory Barlog returned to take the reins of a new God Of War game that would breathe much needed new life into Kratos and his story.
The God Of War presentation at E3 2016 was unlike anything gamers had seen before. Fans went berserk as what appeared to be a teaser trailer for the game quickly changed into a live gameplay demonstration accompanied by a live orchestra performance. This instantly made God Of War the most anticipated game on the PS4 and it went on to win the Game of The Year Award in 2018.
God Of War is proof that developers can reforge old franchises for modern audiences and still keep their fanbase happy. Gamers will be hoping that some developers will be looking to follow in God Of War’s footsteps and bring some old franchises back into the mainstream once again.
