12 Most Memorable Moments From PS4's First Year

3. The Driveclub Disaster

Hitting stores almost a year after its initial intended release as a PS4 launch title, Driveclub released in October and in doing so delivered one of the most infamously calamitous launches in recent gaming history, providing sure embarrassment for both Sony and developer Evolution Studios. Server issues were rampant from day one, with players unable to enter races, while leaderboards and other social networking aspects (which were touted as a big selling point for the game) simply didn't work at all. To make matters worse, Evolution suspended production on the PlayStation Plus version of the game, which had already been stripped down from a mostly complete version to a glorified demo, and to date, two months later, it still hasn't surfaced at all. Though the server fixes added this week have cleared the issues up for many players, there's still no word on when justifiably impatient players might get the PS+ version they were promised, and one can't begin to process how badly the game's botched launch has ruined Evolution's reputation. To make matters even worse, the game's reviews didn't even justify all this fuss: it scored a decent if unremarkable 71 on Metacritic.
