12 Stunning Video Game Locations You Must Visit Before You Die

9. Los Santos - Grand Theft Auto V

One of the most realistic and complete video game renditions of a modern city to date, Los Santos is not only worth visiting as a cheaper, more violent alternative to getting yourself out to LA, but as an experience of a place where literally everything is a blown-up, insane, satirical version of reality. Los Santos has its share of beautiful locations. Vespucci Beach is a great place to hang out all day, and the views from nearby Mount Chiliad are among the best you'll ever see in a game, but the real beauty lies in just traipsing around the city's streets, soaking up the Los Santos sun and absorbing the insanity around you. Every billboard and shop name is an ascerbic piss-take or riff on some absurdity you'll recognise in real life, and every denizen of the city will have something positively insane nugget of knowledge if you take the time to speak to them. The level of detail - from the individual leaves on trees to the programs on the TV - makes Los Santos a world unto itself like no other, and you can spend months exploring every crazy corner of this warped alternative reality.
