The Two Worlds series has definitely cropped up a few times at WhatCulture in the context of terrible voice-acting or crappy RPGs, or something equally unflattering. But now, it's time to say something sort-of nice about it (while acknowledging it's still pretty bad).

The game tried doing some interesting things with the combat, allowing for a lot of customisation options - such as modifying weapons and tweaking magic spells, then combining them to devastating effect. The level of experimentation is really quite impressive, and the world is big and diverse, letting you explore a variety of interesting biomes, which is more than can be said of its Bethesda contemporaries.

For all its ambitions, this pleasantly hardcore RPG was ruined by technical hiccups, terrible characters and interactions, and tired, unoriginal quests. But, if you're curious to check out a big, at moments beautiful RPG with a ton of ideas that just don't quite work, check it out.
