12 Times Movies Got Video Games Wrong

2. "Player 2 Has Left The Game" - Shaun Of The Dead

Another video game mistake involving Simon Pegg now, albeit one that's decidedly less confusing and far easier to forgive considering it's in the service of a great gag.

Edgar Wright's unforgettable zom-rom-com features a scene where Shaun (Pegg) sits down to play TimeSplitters 2 with Ed (Nick Frost), and as he grabs a controller to get started, an announcer voice bellows, "Player two has entered the game."

After realising he's got to head off to work, Shaun quits the game and the voice continues, "Player two has left the game."

It's a fun, memorable gag, if also entirely fabricated for cinematic purposes, because TimeSplitters 2 contains no announcer voice for players joining or leaving the multiplayer action.

A nitpick? Perhaps, but one that sticks in the mind because of the joke it's tethered to.
