12 Upcoming Video Game Sequels Nobody Asked For

3. Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars

The Pitch: An open-world follow-up to 2012's successful Hong Kong-based actioner Sleeping Dogs, though developers United Front Games are being intentionally vague about releasing any more details at the moment. Why Nobody Asked For It: Because Sleeping Dogs, while far from a terrible game, just wasn't one that had players crying out for a sequel. Yes, the snazzy locale was nice and the combat was fun to a point, but the missions were incredibly repetitive and it simply did nothing to reinvent the sandbox action game, instead just coasting on the success of what came before. It was fun while it lasted, yet there was little inviting gamers to come back for another play-through, or in fact, for a whole new game. The open-world system could, admittedly, make the game worth playing if it's done right, though given the relatively down-the-line treatment the first game got, it's probably safe not to expect much more from Triad Wars. It may be worth playing if the reviews are good, but even so, it's hardly a game many are desperately anticipating.
