12 Upcoming Video Game Sequels Nobody Asked For

11. Fable Legends

The Pitch: Revolving around co-operative play, Fable Legends pits four hero players against one villain player, who is able to control the enemy spawns and various traps which will assail the good guys using a top-down, God-like perspective. Why Nobody Asked For It: Because the Fable series hasn't been much fun in a long time. The last good release was 2010's Fable III, and even that was considered yet another classic Peter Molyneux disappointment, but since then, gamers have suffered through mediocre spin-offs Fable Heroes and the depressingly linear Fable The Journey, as well as the unpolished HD remake of the original Fable, Fable Anniversary. Still, players have to ask themselves, has the Fable series ever really been that great? When Fable first arrived on the Xbox in 2004, it rode in on a huge wave of hype, one which, as is characteristic of most of Molyneux's work, couldn't live up to its own wild ambition. Though Fable II was the undeniable high-point for the series, it's the only one of the six games to date that's really been worthy of being called great: the other two core games are merely decent, and the spin-offs and HD remakes are an incredibly mixed bag. With such a shaky track record, why, then, would gamers want to take a chance on Legends? The premise sounds interesting, though it also seems better-suited as a cheap XBLA title rather than a game worth buying at full price.
