12 Upcoming Video Games Blatantly Trying To Rip Gamers Off

5. Deep Down Will Be "Free-To-Play" (With Micro-Transactions, Of Course)

The Game: A gorgeous-looking dungeon crawler that was initially touted as one of the most exciting upcoming games for the PS4...before Capcom announced that it was a free-to-play title. Why It's A Ripoff: While not all free-to-play titles are the spawn of Satan, they do typically invite the question: how do they make money? And unsurprisingly, the answer is usually through in-game micro-transactions designed to make the game easier in exchange for spending actual cash. The longer you play, the more cumbersome the obstacles typically become, and as such the temptation to part with your money increases. While details on exactly what the micro-transactions will be in Deep Down are scarce, it's simply known that Capcom are implementing them, and given their history with gouging players for every penny, it's best to expect the worst. Will People Buy It Anyway?: Probably not. Given how little has been heard about this game over the last year or so, it could easily be one of those titles that arrives with little fanfare and quickly fades into obscurity as a naff Dark Souls knockoff.
