12 Upcoming Video Games Blatantly Trying To Rip Gamers Off
4. Assassin's Creed Victory Is Set To Be More Of The Same
The Game: The latest entry into Ubisoft's absurdly prolific action adventure series, Victory, takes place in Victorian London, and is due for release this November. Why It's A Ripoff: Because aren't all the Assassin's Creed games just rip-offs of each other by this point? While the first few sequels actually improved upon the relative blandness of the first game, by now it just feels like the series is spinning its wheels and essentially selling players the same experience each year, albeit with a new lick of paint. Isn't everyone tired of paying full price for another game full of the same tailing missions? Can't Ubisoft just take a year off and come up with something fresh? Will People Buy It Anyway?: Despite creative stagnation having set in years ago and the previous game, Unity, especially taking flak for its sloppy production, the series is pretty much healthier than ever sales-wise, and continues to be a mainstay for casual gamers who like their action a little challenging but not too much. More hardcore gamers abandoned ship long ago, but don't expect the sales juggernaut to slow down anytime soon. It's comparable to the annualised Call of Duty series, but at least with its rotation of developers, that series does encounter inspired greatness every now and then.
