12 Upcoming Video Games That Might Be Surprisingly Awesome
3. Rage 2
Release Date: TBA 2019
Most gamers seemed simply baffled when Rage 2 was officially announced shortly before E3, if only because the previous 2011 FPS title barely made a dent with either critics or fans.
That a Rage sequel (rather than a reboot) is due for release eight years after-the-fact is one of the year's most surprising gaming reveals, yet even more shocking is the fact that it might actually be great.
The initial teaser trailers and gameplay reveal didn't really do much to sell the game, but its showing at E3 was decidedly more impressive, suggesting the game's going to be an absolutely wild, self-aware dose of neon-infused insanity.
Granted, it still wouldn't be terribly surprising if Rage 2 had its issues - especially with the lukewarm response to Avalanche Studios' 2015 Mad Max game - but it's becoming increasingly easier to actually be somewhat optimistic about the end product. Fingers crossed.
