9. Evolve

The Buzz: The latest game from Left 4 Dead developers Turtle Rock Studios is another small-scale multiplayer game, with 5 players entering an arena, playing as either part of a human team of soldiers (in the roles of Assault, Medic, Trapper and Support) or the lone Hunter, a monster who can evolve through three stages by eating the indigenous wildlife. Either side wins by killing off the other. Current Release Date: February 10th, 2015 Why It Will Be Delayed: If you've been lucky enough to play the Evolve alpha test this weekend, you're probably aware that the game isn't exactly in great shape. The Hunter controls like a particularly badly-designed milk float, setting up a game takes longer than most of the matches last (around 3-5 minutes in most instances), the game seems balanced unfairly in favour of the humans, and the combat just isn't very much fun at all. At least Turtle Rock were smart to start testing the game over 3 months before its release, allowing them to tinker with a lot of these problems, considering that the basic framework is actually a pretty great idea for a game. Still, it would be no surprise at all to see Turtle Rock balk at the divisive reaction to the game and take drastic action by delaying it for a few months.
