Gamers should be well-acquainted with multi-phase boss battles. Final Fantasy and Mega Man players expect the final boss to go through at least five or six stages before it's all over.

However, nobody implements the multi-phase strategy to a higher degree than Persona 3's antagonist, Nyx Avatar. Being the embodiment of Death, it's no surprise this entity is hard to kill.

But to put Nyx down for good, our hero must endure, not one, not two, not ten, but a whopping 14 phases! Any time the good guys think they've beaten her, Nyx announces, "Now, behold my true form" like she's a Dragon Ball Z character.

What's worse is Nyx's tactic causes this already bum-numbing brawl to drag out even longer. She can attack at least twice per turn, is heavily resistant to critical hits, and is immune to All-Out Attacks. Since Nyx's strengths and weakness change during each phase, scans have to be performed on her all the time to know what she's vulnerable to.

Since this deathly horror takes about an hour to defeat, it's best to prepare, not just in the game, but in real life. Seriously, go to the bathroom and grab a sandwich, because this showdown will take a while.
