8. Aliens: Colonial Marines

Aliens: Colonial Marines was undoubtedly one of the biggest gaming let-downs of 2013, taking the brilliant concept of a squad of marines facing off against a fleet of xenomorphs and completely butchering it due to the low-rent presentation and naff gameplay, which simply de-mystified the xenomorphs too much and made them too easy to kill. The result? A passable time waster for a few hours, and an extremely underwhelming take on one of cinema's greatest action flicks. The game was rightly derided by critics, yet somehow still managed to take the #1 spot on the UK sales chart for both PS3 and Xbox 360. Selling a whopping 1.3 million units in just 3 months, the figures were hilariously referred to by The Escapist as "bafflingly massive", a testament to the fact that we all wanted to hope the game was going to be great, to the point that we even ignored the critics who told us it wasn't. But honestly, how many of us actually held onto the game after finishing it? Raise your hands...
