In This War of Mine, we leave behind the confines of a totalitarian state, and this time suffer at the hands of a full blown war. Whilst there are seemingly countless games that deal with the glamour of war, This War of Mine tackles the perspective of the victims.

Based on the Bosnian genocide in the early 1990s, we are charged with a small group of survivors that have found themselves huddled together in a dilapidated house, pitching their wits against outsiders to survive the war. By day, the survivors use their various skills to reinforce the house, prepare food, and craft medicine and weapons for trade.

By night, they scavenge for scraps to aid their survival, in the hope they aren’t killed or raided whilst their companions sleep. As resources become more scarce, and winter grows colder, you're forced to raid innocent Grandpa and Grandma, or risk the more dangerous gang-ridden zones.

Oh, and if all that wasn’t enough, the developers added an expansion pack called “The Little Ones", where you now have to look after kids. Now, if surviving wasn’t hard enough, you now have to look after a bunch of dependents who eat your food and demand toys, but do nothing to contribute your own little hell-hole.

Great. Thanks for that.
