Ascending a ledge in a game shouldn't be particularly difficult, but Batman Forever somehow managed to make it so.

A tie-in for the movie of the same name, Batman Forever is a 2D, side-scrolling beat-em-up where you, or you and a friend, can play as Batman or Robin and punch, kick and attempt to use incredibly complicated combos to use gadgets to beat enemies.

It's an extremely weird game that uses very similar technology to the original Mortal Kombat titles, where Batman/Robin and the enemies are rendered in realistic fashion. Unfortunately they also tried to use a control scheme similar for Mortal Kombat to make a side-scrolling game, and the results are absolutely atrocious.

There's no in-game direction to tell you what to do, so it's literally a case of guessing for the most part. The aforementioned ledges are particularly bizarre; turns out you need to press up and Y to use a grapple to get up there, but the game doesn't tell you this at all.
