13 Best Moments In 2013's Best Games

3. The Opening - Bioshock: Infinite

The follow up to Ken Levine€™s original masterpiece in Bioshock was one tough act to top for him and his talented team at Irrational Games, but by Jove they found a way. What€™s the follow up to an underwater utopia? Why a city in the sky of course! And Infinite took full advantage by creating arenas littered with sky-rails for the player to latch onto and hop around from, or just shoot enemies from like a total marksman. Elizabeth €“ although admittedly not as fully realized- made for a companion that actually helped in the heat of battle instead of stealing cover or blowing your position. She€™s also gorgeously detailed and animated with the personality of a Disney Princess, which made the game alone for me. Of course the story is just utterly outstanding too with more mind-bending twists up its sleeves. Best Moment- I could go for the easy route and talk about the 20 minute ending sequence, which pretty much melted my mind, but I€™m not going to because the opening is as equally fascinating and can get overlooked in hindsight. Exploring Columbia for a good hour to two without any hostility is in one word; creepy. Everything is so peaceful, solemn, welcoming, and right yet so very wrong. It€™s like the nicest family ever inviting you to dinner only to find out you€™ll be fighting for your life because they€™re actually cannibals.
