3. The Death Of The Boss (MGS 3)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIrJtj6n3ss To Naked Snake, the woman known as The Boss was more than a mentor - she was the closest thing he has to family in his life. She taught him everything he knows about being a soldier. This is why her supposed betrayal was so hard for him to accept. Even when she hands nuclear weapons to Volgin and throws Snake off a bridge, he still can't believe that she would betray her country by defecting to the Soviet Union. Only after killing her does Snake find out the truth: that the Boss originally infiltrated Volgin's ranks to secure the Philosopher's legacy for the United States. However, the plan changed when Volgin unexpectedly fired an American nuclear missile on Russian soil. In order to prove America's innocence, the government pinned this heinous act on the Boss and had Snake kill her for it. She did her duty till the end and died knowing that history would paint her as a monster and a traitor instead of the true patriot she really was. The game ends with Snake (or Big Boss, as is now known) saluting The Boss' nameless grave as a single tear rolls down his cheek. It's a real turning point for the character and serves as the start of his long, gradual descent into madness.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
