The criminally-underrated sequel to one of the most revered Star Wars games of all time, Knights of the Old Republic 2 doesn't receive the credit it deserves for giving players the opportunity to dive back into the world that Bioware lovingly brought to life in their original title.

Developed by Obsidian, the sequel built upon the foundation of its predecessor by offering a more nuanced and interesting take on the friction between the dark side of the Force and the light. Casting players as an exiled Jedi Knight, the studio's unique RPG mentality shone through in the complex sense of humanity that elevated what could have been one-note characters into dynamic and nuanced constructs.

Unfortunately, a contracted production resulted in a title that was clearly unfinished, and had to compromise its identity in order to hit a release date.

Because of that troubled dev time the game isn't quite a match for the original entry in the series in terms of quality, but what's there is still solid in its own right, and hints towards the greatness that Obsidian could have achieved if only they were given the time to realise their vision.
