13 Classic Video Games With Ridiculously Stupid Stories

2. Skies Of Arcadia

Skies Of Arcadia I€™ve never understood why this 100+ hour snooze-fest enjoys such a rabid fanbase. Such is the popularity of this Dreamcast stinker it even got a GameCube port in 2002. I could harp on about my dreary voyage through the skies of Arcadia from a gameplay perspective, but this list is supposed to be focusing on crappy narratives. So, how does this game fare in the story stakes? What you€™ve got here is a painfully obvious pacifist/environmentalist yarn told through a pretty bland resistance story from the perspective of €˜air pirate€™ Vyse, a protagonist so maddeningly upbeat that he would€™ve been made to walk the plank on my ship long ago. There€™s some rubbish about biological WMDs and €˜Moon Crystals,€™ all communicated through some of the worst dialogue I€™ve ever been forced to endure, which seems largely to consist of inter-gender bickering roughly on par with an episode of The Big Bang Theory.
