13 Most Disappointing Video Games Of 2014

12. Titanfall

Widely hyped by the gaming press as a "Call of Duty killer", the first game from Respawn Entertainment (founded by ex-Infinity Ward employees Jason West and Vince Zampella) rode in on a high horse and, despite delivering a pretty damn thrilling multiplayer experience, pretty much fell off a cliff shortly after release. In short, there's just not a lot here keeping players chipping away once they've Regenerated (the game's version of Prestige mode), which can be achieved relatively easily over a weekend. The single-player "campaign" is embarrassingly piecemeal, and though the game is undeniably fun, it's a breezy blast that lacks the variety to go the distance for months on end. Though the game scored strong critical notices across the board, this is one title where the disappointment set in retrospectively. How many people haven't touched the game at all since a week or two after release? A lot.
