It's not always the case but as a general rule of thumb, the North American market, more often than not, gets the short end of the stick as far as evocative video game box art goes.
Whereas Japan and Europe were treated to the eerily brilliant cover below, featuring the silhouette of everyone's favorite chainsaw-wielding maniac Dr. Salvador, audiences across the pond weren't so lucky.
Japan, it seems, believes that the best way to push a product in the USA is to remove all nuance and subtlety, replacing it with guns, blood and clutter. That Leon's domineering presence in the foreground is clearly little more than a cut and paste job is simply the icing on an already tasteless cake.
The worst is still to come, mind you.
