13 Predictions For 2017's Biggest Video Games
12. Sea Of Thieves Is The Next No Man's Sky
The Prediction: Sea of Thieves finally releases in early 2017... and ends up being underwhelming disappointment, lacking in features and basically suffering from the developers' own vagueness pre-release regarding what it can or can't do.
Like No Man's Sky, then.
Why It Will Happen: You need only watch an interview with the devs to get a whiff of suspicion about this one. At E3 in particular, they were extremely circumspect about answering questions, frequently using the "we're not ready to talk about that" line when asked about the game's features and what sort of title it ultimately it is.
It feels like Rare are trying to create that same air of intrigued hype by saying little definitive, and after the NMS backlash, this could be a huge mistake.
Why It Might Not: Perhaps Rare just don't want to promise features that are still being worked on, and given the overwhelmingly negative response to Hello Games' deceptive marketing, they're surely aware it would be an incredibly dumb move.
